The Netherlands and Czech Republic will battle it out for a Euro 2020 quarter-final berth when they lock horns at the Puskás Aréna on Sunday afternoon. It will be a third European Championship meeting, with both having enjoyed one win against the other (though both previous occasions came in the group phase). Oranje topped Group C with a 100% record while Jaroslav Šilhavý’s men finished third in Group D. An exhilarating opening game against Ukraine, in which Oranje ran out 3-2 winners, was followed by straightforward affairs (2-0 v Austria and 3-0 v North Macedonia). They are now seeking a first knockout win at the European Championship since 2004, when they reached the semi-finals.
The visiting Czech team were party poopers when they inflicted a 2-0 loss on hosts Scotland to open their Euro 2020 campaign. They followed up that result with a hard-fought point against Croatia (1-1) at the same Hampden Park venue but couldn’t deny England (0-1) and ultimately finished third in their group.
No doubt, an exciting match is coming up and our prediction is for a Netherland’s win and over 2,5 goals.
