The draw for the quarterfinal qualifiers of the Conference League tournament was favorable to CSKA-Sofia, as their opponent there will be the Latvian FC Liepaja. The players of Liepaja also passed through the 1/8 finals, where they defeated the Macedonians Struga. Their first match in Latvia ended 1: 1, but a week later Liepaja’s team crushed their opponent at its own stadium with 1: 4.
CSKA start their European journey directly from this stage of the tournament. Last week, the Reds played their first official match, which was a Super Cup final against Ludogorets and they lost 0: 4.
Liepaja finished the 2020 season in fourth place, but thanks to winning the Latvian Cup, they secured a place in the Conference League. Currently, after fourteen games played, the Green and Whites occupy the fourth position with 22 points. The leader Riga has 35, but has played three games more than Liepaja.
The Bulgarian team must win their home match againstLiepaja. We believe that the players of CSKA will start their participation in the tournament with a victory.
