Shakhtar – Monaco

Shakhtar welcome Monaco in the Champions League playoffs, return leg, on wednesday night. In the first leg Shakhtar surprisingly won 1-0. The Ukrainian team have a significant advantage, but the Ligue 1 side are good enough to win on the road, so we expect an exciting game. Shakhtar Donetsk has four wins in a row in all competitions. In the previous match, they won 3-0 away from home against Chernomorets Odessa in the top national league. They have a brilliant defence. They allowed only five goals in eight matches in all competitions in the 2021-22 season. On the other side, Shakhtar’s attacking line is good enough to score against any defence.

Monaco started poorly in the 2021-22 season. They recorded three losses in the last three matches, including a 2-0 defeat at home against Lens. Amazingly, Monaco didn’t score any goals in the last three matches. They have to score at least once on Wednesday night to have chances to progress to the Champions League.

Our prediction is for another home win and over 2,5 goals.
