England are set to play Hungary at the Wembley Stadium on Tuesday for a World Cup qualifying game. England come into this game on the back of a 5-0 win over Koldo Alvarez’s Andorra. Hungary, on the other hand, lost 1-0 to Edoardo Reja’s Albania.
In 23 head-to-head encounters between the two sides, England hold the clear advantage. They have won 16 games, lost five and drawn two. The two countries last faced each other earlier this year, with England beating Hungary 4-0.
Having reached the final of Euro 2020 this summer, England will be aiming to better that at the World Cup next year. Hungary, on the other hand, enjoyed an excellent Euros. Little was expected from them in the group stages, where they faced Germany, France and Portugal. However, Marco Rossi’s men nearly qualified from their group, and earned global praise for their performances. England will be the favourites to win the game.
